The Atlanta Braves bullpen is getting another shuffle, and not by choice. Right-handed reliever Daysbel Hernandez has been placed on the 15-day injured list with right shoulder inflammation, retroactive to Tuesday. The move puts the brakes on what’s been a solid season for the 28-year-old.

Hernandez, who’s been a quiet force out of the pen, posted a 4-3 record with a 3.41 ERA across 39 appearances this year. Since breaking into the majors with the Braves, he’s tallied an 8-3 record and a 3.38 ERA over 59 games. That’s production the Braves can’t easily replicate — but they’re going to have to try.

Enter Hunter Stratton. Recalled from Triple-A Gwinnett, the 28-year-old Stratton is getting another shot to prove his worth. After being traded from the Pittsburgh Pirates on July 1, Stratton made six relief appearances for Atlanta, boasting an impressive 1.86 ERA despite a 0-1 record. Across his time with the Pirates and Braves from 2023 to 2025, he’s logged a 2-2 record and a 3.92 ERA in 53 games.

It’s another twist in what’s been a season filled with bullpen adjustments for the Braves, who continue to deal with injuries and the pressure of maintaining playoff momentum.

For Stratton, it’s a chance to cement a role. For Hernandez, the hope is a short stay on the shelf. But with shoulder inflammation, there are no guarantees.

Stay tuned, this bullpen could be in for more movement if recovery timelines don’t go as planned.
