Three Atlanta Braves prospects to watch as we head into 2025.

The Atlanta Braves might have a dominating lineup right now (when healthy), but their pipeline of young talent promises an even brighter future. While the roster already boasts star power, fans looking to the horizon have some exciting prospects on deck.

Although most of these up-and-coming players aren’t likely to jump into MLB action immediately, they represent the next wave of Braves talent. Here’s a closer look at three names to watch as we head into 2025.

Cam Caminiti – Pitcher, No. 1 Prospect

Cam Caminiti is the Atlanta Braves' top prospect.

Cam Caminiti may be the Braves’ top prospect, but he’s still a bit of a way off from stepping onto the mound at Truist Park. Atlanta fans probably won’t see him in action until around 2028, but the young righty’s potential is hard to ignore. Drafted 24th overall just six months ago, Caminiti’s already creating a buzz in the Minors, and not just because he’s related to former NL MVP Ken Caminiti.

Known for his blazing fastball that can top 98 mph, Caminiti’s control and power have scouts rating him as a 55 on the 20-80 scale—a mark that’s notably above average. His fastball alone earns a 60 rating, hinting at the kind of pitcher he could become.

After a brief taste of Minor League play with a three-inning debut for the Augusta GreenJackets, Caminiti has a lot of work ahead, but his progress is definitely worth watching. Braves fans might not see him in 2025, but Caminiti could quickly move through the Minors if his debut season goes well.

Nacho Alvarez Jr. – Shortstop, No. 4 Prospect

Braves fans caught an early glimpse of Nacho Alvarez Jr. in 2024.

Braves fans caught an early glimpse of Nacho Alvarez Jr. in 2024 when he was called up after Ozzie Albies went down with a wrist injury. Though his MLB debut was brief and challenging—Alvarez hit only .100 over ten games—his Triple-A stats paint a far more promising picture. At just 21, Alvarez finished his Triple-A run with a .297 batting average, a .861 OPS, 10 homers, and 42 RBIs, showing he’s got the potential to be a reliable hitter.

Alvarez likely wouldn’t have been called up so soon if Albies hadn’t been sidelined. While the Braves were dealing with a string of injuries, they were also testing their depth—a challenging position for any rookie. Look for Alvarez to make another appearance in 2025, as he’ll have more time to settle in and prove himself on the big stage.

Drue Hackenberg – Pitcher, No. 9 Prospect

Another rising star on the Braves' radar is Drue Hackenberg.

Another rising star on the Braves’ radar is Drue Hackenberg, a right-handed pitcher. He rose to Triple-A in just his second season of professional ball. At 22, Hackenberg has already made an impressive debut with a 1.52 ERA over four Triple-A starts, holding opponents to a meager .175 average.

Though he’s projected to make his Major League debut in 2026, Hackenberg’s rapid progression suggests he could see some MLB action sooner, especially if the Braves need an extra arm in their rotation.

Braves fans saw this scenario play out last season with Spencer Schwellenbach, who wasn’t expected to join the rotation as soon as he did. With Hackenberg progressing so rapidly, 2025 may just give him an opportunity, particularly if injuries open a door.

        Looking Ahead at the Braves

The talent pipeline in Atlanta looks as strong as ever.

While Caminiti, Alvarez, and Hackenberg might not all make the Opening Day roster in 2025, each one represents Atlanta’s future. For fans, keeping an eye on their progress through the Minors is like watching the early stages of the next Braves dynasty take shape. From powerful arms to promising bats, the talent pipeline in Atlanta looks as strong as ever.
