The Atlanta Braves finally gave their fans something to smile about Monday night, breaking free from a frustrating seven-game skid with a 7-1 victory over the Milwaukee Brewers. And while the win itself was a much-needed shot of momentum, the spotlight rightly shone on second baseman Ozzie Albies, who reached a major career milestone.

Albies collected two hits in the game, going 2-for-4 with a walk and a run scored, bringing his career total to 1,000 hits. That’s a huge achievement, especially for a player who’s still just 28 years old.

He became the second Braves player this season to hit that mark, joining Matt Olson, who reached 1,000 hits back in April. Every single one of Albies’ hits has come in a Braves uniform. Olson, by comparison, racked up a good chunk of his total in Oakland before joining Atlanta.

It’s a testament to Albies’ consistency, longevity, and loyalty—a rare trifecta in modern baseball. If injuries hadn’t tripped him up along the way, there’s little doubt he’d have crossed the 1,000-hit threshold even sooner. In full seasons, he’s routinely approached or eclipsed 160 hits. Back in 2019, he even led the National League with 189.

After a sluggish start to 2025, Albies is showing signs of life. Over his last 23 games, he’s matched that number in hits—batting .280 with a .770 OPS in that span. Those numbers might not scream MVP, but for a team starved for production, they represent a welcome uptick.

As the Braves try to claw their way out of the division basement, Albies rediscovering his rhythm couldn’t come at a better time. His ability to get on base and start rallies has always been a cornerstone of Atlanta’s offense. And right now, they need every bit of that spark.

Their win over Milwaukee was the kind of all-around performance Atlanta has desperately missed. The Braves clubbed three home runs early to stake out a 5-1 lead. Those came courtesy of Ronald Acuña Jr., Matt Olson, and Eli White. Marcell Ozuna added insurance in the ninth with a two-run single, just in case the baseball gods had another cruel twist in mind.

On the mound, Chris Sale turned in another strong outing, while Raisel Iglesias finally delivered a clean inning—something that hasn’t exactly been a guarantee in recent weeks.

This was the kind of game Braves fans have been longing for: crisp, confident, and complete. The losing streak is over. The sighs of relief are audible. And with one milestone crossed off the list, maybe, just maybe, Albies and the Braves can start writing a different kind of story for the rest of the season.
