The Atlanta Braves first baseman, Matt Olson, is primed for a big 2025 season.
If Bleacher Report’s Joel Reuter is on the money, Olson’s about to launch baseballs into orbit at least 40 times this year. Now, is that 54-homer madness we saw in 2023? No.
But is it still an elite, lineup-anchoring, opposing-pitcher-haunting kind of season? Absolutely.
Olson Looking to Bounce Back from 2024

Reuter makes a fair point. Olson’s 2024 numbers (29 home runs, 98 RBIs) weren’t exactly jaw-dropping, but let’s not forget that Atlanta’s offense was dealing with injuries all over the place.
A fully healthy Austin Riley and the eventual return of Ronald Acuña Jr. should give Olson all the support he needs to get back to his slugging ways.
And let’s be real: when you’re at a point where 29 home runs and 98 RBIs are considered a “down year,” you know the expectations are sky-high.
Chasing Another 40-Homer Season
The fun part? If Olson reaches that 40-homer mark, it’ll be just the second time he’s hit that milestone in his career.
He came painfully close in 2021 with the A’s, finishing at 39, but that’s the kind of almost that doesn’t make the record books.
Assuming health and consistency, though, he should get a full 162-game slate to chase that number down.
Will the Braves Power Return in 2025?
Let’s talk about the Braves’ power numbers as a whole. The 2024 season was a bit of an anomaly—no Braves hitter cracked 40 home runs after three guys did it in 2023 (Olson, Acuña, and Marcell Ozuna).
Olson and Ozuna were both just shy of the mark last year. But if history tells us anything, this Braves lineup has plenty of pop just waiting to explode again.
So, is a 40-homer season in the cards for Olson? The way things are shaping up sure looks that way. And if the Braves are back to full strength, don’t be surprised if he’s not the only one in the lineup sending baseballs into the seats on a regular basis.
