Ex-Braves Hitting Coach Kevin Seitzer Find Next Role With Seattle Mariners

Kevin Seitzer has a new job in Seattle, taking over as the Mariners’ hitting coach after 10 seasons with the Atlanta Braves. Seitzer played a key role in shaping a high-powered offense during his time in Atlanta.

He helped the Braves win the 2021 World Series and remain consistent National League contenders. Kevin Seitzer did open up and talk about being let go from Atlanta. However, it’s unclear how much of that success stemmed from Seitzer’s coaching and how much came from the talent-rich Braves roster. Daniel Kramer of MLB.com did state the following as well though.

Seitzer was influential in the development of Braves homegrown products such as Ronald Acuña Jr., Ozzie Albies and Dansby Swanson. He also helped Matt Olson and Marcell Ozuna produce the finest seasons of their respective careers.

In Seattle, the situation will be different. The Mariners don’t have the same depth of stars as the Braves. Julio Rodríguez is a rising star, and Cal Raleigh impressed as a Silver Slugger finalist, but the team’s lineup struggled with strikeouts and consistency. Seattle finished 85-77 and missed the playoffs in 2024. They hope Seitzer can elevate the offense and bring more discipline to the plate.

Meanwhile, Atlanta has hired Tim Hyers as its new hitting coach, signaling a new era for the Braves. Both teams will be watched closely to see how these coaching changes affect their offenses heading into the new season.
