The lawsuit filed by Philadelphia Phillies third baseman Alec Bohm pulls back the curtain on what appears to be a deeply fractured financial relationship between a rising MLB star and the two people he once trusted most to manage his affairs. According to court documents obtained by the Daily Mail and first reported by the Philadelphia Inquirer, Bohm alleges that his parents, Daniel and Lisa Bohm, used a network of limited liability companies to redirect millions of dollars from his earnings into accounts that ultimately benefited them.

The complaint lays out a timeline that begins in 2019, when Bohm’s professional career was gaining traction and his financial picture was expanding rapidly. His parents allegedly proposed creating LLCs to manage his growing assets, reassuring him that their involvement, including a 10-percent ownership stake, was purely administrative. They reportedly emphasized that all underlying assets would remain fully his and that their assistance would be provided without charge.

What followed, according to the filing, was a gradual shift in control and transparency. Bohm claims that funds were transferred into accounts tied to these LLCs, while additional entities were created to oversee other aspects of his financial life, including his personal residence. A charitable foundation bearing his name was also established, though the lawsuit asserts that it, too, was used to benefit his parents financially.

Requests for Transparency Met With Resistance

The language in the complaint suggests a pattern that escalated over time. Each transaction, Bohm alleges, expanded his parents’ control while limiting his direct access to information. That tension came to a head in January, when he requested basic financial documentation, account statements, login credentials, and tax records, and was allegedly denied.

Instead of providing full transparency, the lawsuit claims his parents retained legal counsel, who offered only partial disclosures. Shortly after, Bohm was informed that his parents intended to seek compensation for their management of the LLCs, a move that appears to directly contradict earlier assurances that their involvement was unpaid.

Conflicting Claims as Legal Battle Unfolds

The financial stakes are significant. Bohm is seeking at least $1 million in damages, along with additional penalties and legal costs. At 29, and currently playing under a one-year, $10 million contract, he stands on the verge of free agency, where his earning potential could increase sharply.

Daniel and Lisa Bohm, through their attorney, have denied all allegations, calling the lawsuit baseless and expressing disappointment over the claims. The legal battle now moves forward with two sharply opposing narratives: one describing calculated financial misappropriation, the other insisting on long-standing parental support carried out in good faith.
