Jurickson Profar’s first season with the Atlanta Braves hasn’t exactly gone according to plan. But on Saturday afternoon, he gave fans one of the defensive highlights of the year.
After serving a PED suspension in the first half of the 2025 season, the Braves’ big free-agent signing started hot at the plate, only to slump badly in recent weeks, hitting just .205 with a .739 OPS over his last 20 games. But in Game 1 of Saturday’s doubleheader against the Miami Marlins, Profar delivered a moment that reminded everyone why the Braves invested in him.
Profar’s Spider-Man Moment
In the early innings at Truist Park, Miami’s Agustin Ramirez launched what looked like a no-doubt home run. Profar, tracking the ball all the way, sprinted to the wall, leapt, and climbed high enough that half his body was over the fence when he snagged it. The robbery left pitcher Hurston Waldrep wide-eyed on the mound and drew a roar from the Braves’ dugout, with teammates lining up to congratulate Profar when he returned to the bench.
The Braves’ broadcast crew dubbed him “Spider-Man” on the FanDuel Sports Network stream, and the play quickly lit up social media. MLB’s official X account called it “an INSTANT catch of the year candidate,” while fans shared clips of the grab across platforms.
A Game-Changer For Braves Pitcher

Profar’s heroics kept Waldrep’s shutout intact at the time, preventing the Marlins from getting on the board until the sixth inning. The rookie right-hander ended up tossing five scoreless frames before yielding a run, and Atlanta held a 3–1 lead heading into the bottom of the sixth.
Saturday’s opener was a makeup game from a first-half rainout, with the Braves and Marlins set to square off again later in the day. The two teams split the first two games of the series, which began Thursday.
