Top Ex-Braves Prospect Signs With the Diamondbacks

Former Braves Top Prospect Cristian Pache Takes His Talent to the Arizona Diamondbacks

Cristian Pache’s baseball journey has been a rollercoaster. He went from being the next big thing in the Atlanta Braves outfield to signing a minor league deal with the Diamondbacks.

It’s been a ride that fans are still trying to process. His path has been a bit like a Hollywood script that didn’t quite get the third act right.

From Braves Phenom to Trade Bait

From Braves Phenom to Trade Bait

Let’s rewind for a second. When Pache was coming up with the Braves, the hype was real. This guy was supposed to be the gold-glove, highlight-reel machine patrolling center field for the next decade.

And for a brief moment, that future seemed locked in. But baseball, as we know, has a funny way of rewriting careers on the fly.

After just 24 games in two seasons with Atlanta, the Braves front office — led by the shrewd Alex Anthopoulos — decided to ship Pache off to Oakland as part of the deal that brought Matt Olson to Atlanta.

You know, Matt Olson — the guy who casually launched 54 homers two seasons ago. So, in hindsight, that trade was less of a deal and more of a masterclass in front-office wizardry.

A Tough Road Through Oakland and Philly

Meanwhile, poor Cristian Pache’s story took a different turn. His time with the A’s was somewhat forgettable. He played one underwhelming season, lost his starting job, and then found himself packing his bags for Philly.

And if you’re a Braves fan, seeing Pache — once the Braves center fielder of the future — now wearing a Phillies uniform?

He wasn’t exactly lighting up the box scores in Philadelphia. His bat still didn’t come around, but the guy’s defense and speed kept him afloat as a fourth outfielder.

Still, something about seeing him in a rival’s uniform made Braves fans tense. Seeing him with the Marlins for a very short stint did not help the cause for Braves fans either. In one of the best divisions in baseball, the National League East, the Braves need every advantage they can get.

New Opportunity in Arizona for Cristian Pache

Well, here comes a little bit of baseball karma to smooth things over! Pache has inked a minor league deal with the Arizona Diamondbacks. That’s a sign of relief for Braves fans.

Let’s be honest, watching Pache join a team that beat the Phillies in the playoffs? Yeah, that’s a storyline we can get behind. Sweet baseball irony.

Here’s the real question: What kind of shot does Pache actually have in Arizona? The D-backs aren’t exactly hurting for outfield talent. With Corbin Carroll, Lourdes Gurriel Jr., Jake McCarthy, and Alek Thomas already locked into roster spots, Pache might be looking at a depth role.

That might not be a bad thing. His glove and wheels are still top-notch, and those skills could come in handy in the cavernous outfield of Chase Field.

It might be a long shot, but Braves fans can finally root for Pache again — just, you know, as long as it’s not during those six or seven games a year when Atlanta faces Arizona.

Who knows? Maybe this is where the script finally flips for Pache. After all, baseball loves a good redemption arc.
