Aaron Judge continues to rewrite New York Yankees history.

The reigning face of the franchise crushed his 45th and 46th home runs of the season Thursday night in the Yankees’ 9–3 win over the Tigers, giving him 361 career homers in pinstripes. That number doesn’t just pad his MVP résumé — it ties him with Joe DiMaggio for fourth-most in franchise history.

Earlier in the week, Judge passed Yogi Berra (359) to claim sole possession of fifth. Now, another Yankee legend is in his rearview mirror.

Boone: “He’ll Be Waving as Judge Goes By”

After the game, manager Aaron Boone tried to capture the surreal nature of Judge’s climb up the record books.

“Joe DiMaggio — that feels like that’s been there forever, right?” Boone said. “Joe DiMaggio, in a lot of ways, transcended baseball. To be next to him on the list, he’s going to be waving as he goes by. It’s been a privilege having a front-row seat to that.”

Boone’s words underscore what Yankee fans already know: Judge isn’t just putting up numbers — he’s stamping himself among the icons.

This is Judge’s 10th MLB season, and aside from injury-shortened years, every one of them has showcased his signature power. What’s striking now is the realization, in real time, that Judge isn’t just part of the conversation — he is the conversation.

DiMaggio. Berra. Mantle. Gehrig. Ruth.

Those are the names Judge is now brushing up against, and with each swing, the chase continues.

The Road Ahead

Judge trails only Mickey Mantle (536), Lou Gehrig (493), and Babe Ruth (659) on the Yankees’ all-time list at 361. With his pace and durability, it’s no longer a question of if he’ll climb further — it’s a question of how far.

For a player already cemented as captain of the Yankees and face of the franchise, Judge is steadily building a legacy that will echo in the Bronx long after his playing days are done.

And on Thursday night, he officially joined DiMaggio in Yankee immortality — with plenty of room left to climb.
