MLB star Pete Crow-Armstrong’s frustration boiled over in dramatic fashion Sunday after the Chicago Cubs star was caught on camera unleashing an expletive-filled response at a heckling White Sox fan during the Crosstown Classic.
The heated exchange unfolded in the bottom of the fifth inning at Guaranteed Rate Field after Crow-Armstrong failed to make a difficult running catch near the wall in right-center field. The missed play allowed White Sox infielder Miguel Vargas to tie the game at 4-4, instantly shifting momentum in a rivalry matchup that already carried plenty of emotion.
As Crow-Armstrong turned back toward the field following the misplay, a female White Sox fan standing just beyond the fence began shouting at him from close range. Video circulating online showed the fan repeatedly yelling “you suck” while flashing a thumbs-down gesture toward the Cubs outfielder.
Heated Exchange Caught on Camera

Crow-Armstrong did not ignore it. Clearly furious after the defensive mistake, the 24-year-old fired back with a blunt response that MLB cameras and nearby fans easily picked up.
“Suck my f***ing d*** b****,” Crow-Armstrong shouted before walking away.
The clip spread rapidly across social media, with reactions split between fans criticizing the outfielder’s language and others defending him for responding in the heat of a tense rivalry game. The woman later claimed in a now-deleted X post that she had been attending an engagement party seated near field level when the confrontation occurred.
After the game, Crow-Armstrong did not attempt to dodge questions about the incident.
“Some lady decided to start talking s*** and I felt the need to say it back,” he told reporters.
Tough Day for the Cubs Star
The emotional outburst capped off a rough afternoon for both Crow-Armstrong and the Cubs, who eventually fell to the White Sox 9-8 in a chaotic back-and-forth contest.
The All-Star center fielder has quickly become one of the most recognizable young faces in baseball, but this is not the first time his comments involving fans have generated headlines. Earlier this season, Crow-Armstrong took a swipe at Los Angeles Dodgers supporters while praising Cubs fans and the atmosphere in Chicago.
“It’s just an incredible city. The people are great. They give a s***,” he said at the time.
“They aren’t just baseball fans who go to the game like Dodgers fans to take pictures and whatever. They are paying attention. They care.”
His remarks drew attention across the league and reinforced his reputation as an emotional, outspoken player who wears his feelings on his sleeve.
Massive MLB Contract Raises Spotlight
Crow-Armstrong’s fiery personality has become part of his public image as his star continues to rise. The Cubs rewarded him earlier this year with a massive six-year, $115 million contract extension after his rapid emergence as one of baseball’s most dynamic young talents.
Originally selected by the New York Mets in the first round of the 2020 MLB Draft, Crow-Armstrong was traded to Chicago in the 2021 Javier Báez deal, a move that increasingly looks like a major win for the Cubs despite moments like Sunday’s eruption.
At just 24 years old, Crow-Armstrong remains one of the franchise’s cornerstone players, though his latest confrontation with a fan is certain to keep sports talk shows and social media buzzing well beyond the final score.
